Kid Cubbies!

I don’t think I have seen two kids more excited!  We gave Annabelle and Darius each their own cubby space in the West

Sail for them to put their own personal stuff.  Whatever a six and four year old decides as their treasures.  At our property
up in Oregon the children really did not have a place to call their own because we did not have our cabin yet, we were living

in a small cab over camper, and with the weather anything is susceptible to getting damaged by the weather.  It gave us a chance, as parents, to teach them to not put to much value to the things of this world.  It worked in one way and back fired in another way.  It worked because our children are not materialistic, but it back fired in the sense of trying to teach them to respect other peoples things.

Kids just wrote their names on the cubbies in “magic erase marker”. Definitely in need of a sharpie haha!

On the Choey Lee there just wasn’t enough room for the children to have their own space.  Everything was every where and driving us nuts!  Now having been on the West Sail for maybe a month we had the bright idea to give each child that lives with us full time their own cubby.  The kids were ecstatic!  They wrote their names on their own cubbies and filled them with the things that they hold dear.  As a parent I am very pleased with how excited they are and I do not think they would appreciate it as much as they do if they had not spent the past three years without any personal space of their own.  I also think that because they do not have very many toys and do not get the “latest and greatest” they appreciate what they do have.  After all their little cubbies do no hold that much so they really have to weigh out what is important to them.
